Peytsonsville Road Bridge Removal Strains Franklin Traffic for local neighborhoods
Last week in Franklin a tanker truck wrecked at the Peytsonsville Road Bridge and tragicaly the driver lost his life. The damage to the old bridge and teh new one that was to eventiually replace this bidge with a wider roadway to allow for the increase in traffic in this south region of Franklin that has seen a spike in development of new housing communities. The bridge removal was decided upon almost instantly by the traffic engineers and the replacement bridge will not be operational for about 100 days. This bridge removal direclty strains Franklin traffic for local neighborhoods such as Berry Farms, Ladd Park, Ivan Creek, Brandon Park Downs, Goose Crek Estates, Belle Vista, and Stream Valley as they cannot gain access Northbound on I-65 for a typical mornign commute up to Cool Springs, Brentwood, or Nashville. It also indireclty impacts neighborhoods up Leisburg Pike around Mack Hatcher like Polk Place, Dallas Downs, Hunters Chase, and Moore's Landing as the typical routes from the more southern communities can't be used so they are adding traffic to the routes that these home owners use. It is a domino effect to the North and South of the Peytsonville/Goose Creek bridge that is creating a traffic backup for both the morning and evening commutes. This 100 day forecast will put the bridge being reopened around Thanksgiving which marks the beginning of the heavy traffic from the shopping season in this same area, so we hope that they DOT can keep this timeline.
