Welcome to Fredericksburg, Va., a great city centrally located one hour south of Washington, DC. and one hour north of Richmond,Va.
Fredericksburg, Va. has so much history dating back to pre-colonial times making it a great spot to live or visit for history buffs or outdoorsy folk alike. There are many walking trails along the Rappahannock River or several well known civil war battlefields. If wine tours and distilleries are your interest, there are plenty of them around too such as Lake Anna Winery and Bowman’s Distillery to name a few. Perhaps you’ll want to see Ferry Farm, boyhood home of George Washington.
With several counties including Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, and King George County surrounding Fredericksburg, commuting to and from work is with ease and accessibility. Many people who live in Fredericksburg commute on Hwy I95 daily. We have multiple airports all within 50 min of Fredericksburg. Richmond International, Washington-Reagan National, and Washington-Dulles. Commuters travel up the I95 corridor into DC for many government jobs and sightseeing as well. Many can even take Amtrak which is located in downtown Fredericksburg, or the expanding new VRE rails that run each weekday.
There are 3 military bases in the region. Marine Corp Quantico, Fort AP Hill, and Dahlgren Navy Base. Fredericksburg and the nearby counties mentioned create wonderful homes for these families. Housing in Fredericksburg is as unique as the town itself. Being of historic times you can find homes remodeled but dated back to civil war times. There are also many apartments over businesses along the 40 block historic district. Visitors and residents can walk along the downtown shops and restaurants with growing night life. Those living near The University of Mary Washington enjoy the culture of the campus.
